STOP SMOKING CLINICS

We run individual smoking cessation clinics every week for patients who wish to stop smoking. You will be seen and monitored over a 12 week period.

HOW CAN WE HELP YOU TO STOP SMOKING

We offer Nicotine Replacement Therapy.

Nicotine in tobacco is addictive and makes you want to smoke. It is inhaling nicotine that causes heart disease and other smoking related health problems. By taking nicotine through patches, gum, lozenges or an inhalator, withdrawal symptoms are reduced and you are twice as likely to succeed.
Varenicline (Champix) is a new drug that helps people to stop smoking by reducing their withdrawal symptoms and the cravings they may get.

We will monitor your Carbon Monoxide levels at each session.

Carbon Monoxide is absorbed into the body and particularly the lungs of smokers, this is a poisonous gas which makes the blood cells stick together, and coat the walls of your arteries with a fatty plaque causing poor circulation and high blood pressure, subsequently the heart is getting less oxygen so it cannot work as efficiently.

Stop smoking advisor

Our stop smoking advisor Jules Barnes will see and advise you over the first twelve weeks, she is also available for telephone support if additional help is required.

What to do next

If you would like our help to stop smoking, ask for our stop smoking pack at reception. After reading all the information contact reception on 01225 837171 and ask to make an appointment with Jules Barnes our Smoking Advisor.
